About Dr. Paul Balwant
Paul Balwant studied management at The University of the West Indies (BSc and MSc) and The University of Sheffield (PhD). At the latter university, Paul received a prestigious university scholarship. Building on his postgraduate research, Paul has published articles on leadership, engagement, and absenteeism. One of his recent papers titled ‘Practice What You Preach: Instructors as Transformational Leaders in Higher Education Classrooms’ won the Best Paper in Management Education at the 2014 Academy of Management Meeting. In addition to his research, Paul is an ad hoc reviewer for top management journals, including Academy of Management and Applied Psychology. Paul transfers his research and expertise to (a) his teaching at UWI and UWI-Roytec, where he currently lectures Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, People Resourcing and Talent Management, and Motivation & Work Behaviour, and (b) his role as committee member on university committees and the Industrial Relations Advisory Committee (IRAC).
